Common use

Mesterolone is primarily used to manage male hypogonadism, a condition characterized by low testosterone levels. This medicine belongs to the group of synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS). It is also used in managing conditions like delayed puberty in adolescent boys, andropause in older men, and infertility due to low sperm count.

Dosage and direction

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Always take Mesterolone tablet as directed by your doctor, and do not exceed the recommended dose.

Precautions

Mesterolone should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia, epilepsy, migraines, and diabetes. Regular monitoring by your doctor is advised if you have any of these conditions.
Mesterolone should not be used by women who are pregnant as it can cause significant harm to the fetus. It should also not be taken by women who are breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Mesterolone should not be used by people suffering from prostate or breast cancer.
It should also be avoided by those with severe liver disease, nephrotic syndrome, or hypercalcemia.

Side effects of Mesterolone: Oily skin; Increased libido; Mood changes; Fluid retention; Changes in liver enzymes and lipid profile.

Drug interaction

Mesterolone may interact with insulin and oral hypoglycemic medications (such as metformin and glimepiride), anticoagulants (like warfarin), corticosteroids (such as prednisone) and other medicines causing liver toxicity (like paracetamol).

Missed dose

If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is closer to your next dose, then skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never double up the dose to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

An overdose of Mesterolone could lead to severe side effects such as hepatotoxicity and cardiovascular events. In case of a suspected overdose, immediately consult your doctor for guidance.

Storage

Store your Mesterolone tablet at room temperature, ideally below 30 degrees Celsius. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Place the medicine in a secure area out of reach of children.
